Berg is a founder, President and CEO of Marchon Eyewear, one of
the world’s largest, privately owned, manufacturers and
distributors of innovative and fashionable sunwear and eyewear.
Marchon
has strategic license agreements with prestige brands such as
Calvin Klein, COACH, Michael Kors, FENDI, Disney, Nautica, Nike
and X-Games.
The
company also holds exclusive patents on innovative products such
as Flexon, the flexible metal eyeglass frame and Airlock a patented
screwless lens mounting system.
In addition, the company has many successful house brands including
Marchon and Tres Jolie. Marchon also has a software division that
provides the leading software programs to the Optical industry.
Headquartered
in the USA, Marchon markets and distributes its products globally
with regional headquarters in Amsterdam and Tokyo/Hong Kong and
local sales offices serving customers in over 80 countries.
Marchon
Italy is the company’s global design center. Modern production
facilities are located in Italy, China and Japan. Having multiple
production facilities allows Marchon maximum flexibility in sourcing
a wide range of products offering both high quality and great
value.
As long as he can remember, Al Berg has seen himself as a successful
entrepreneur.
He
traces back his roots to his father and grandfather who were in
the family textile business. The family business was the general
topic of discussion around the dinner table.
Mr.
Berg attended Syracuse University where he received the Award
of Distinction for helping to build the Student Government Association
and Campus Conveniences. Mr. Berg graduated from Syracuse University
with a B.A. in 1973, and Harvard Business School with a M.B.A.
in 1975.
In 1995, Inc. Magazine recognized Mr. Berg and his founding partners
with their regional Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Mr. Berg is the Chairman of the LI Steering Committee; Founder
of the UJA Connections Project; Advisor for Mothers’ Voices;
Board of Directors, Vision Council of America, Children of Chernobyl,
member of the Harvard Business School Association and Syracuse
Alumni Association.
Mr. Berg resides with his wife and two children on Long Island,
in New York.
