Farmingdale State College

The School of Business is one of four academic units at Farmingdale State. Approximately one-third of the college’s full-time, matriculated students are in a program within the School of Business. There are Bachelor degrees in Management Technology (Business Administration), Computer Programming and Information Systems, Horticultural Technology Management and Visual Communications (Graphic Design), as well as two Associate degrees available, in Business Administration and Ornamental Horticulture.

Many of the faculty and professional staff have been awarded the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching or Excellence in University Service and many students from the School of Business are the recipients of the prestigious Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. Each academic department meets on a regular basis with an advisory board of professionals in its discipline to ensure that all our programs are up-to-date and that our graduates are well-prepared to meet the needs of the local community. The School of Business is under the leadership of Acting Dean Lorraine Greenwald and Associate Dean Gerald Flynn.

New York State Small Business Development Center

Located on the Campus of Farmingdale State the SBDC plays a key role in economic development by providing technical and management assistance to existing and start up small businesses in Nassau and Suffolk Counties including business plan development, financial planning, cost analysis, marketing, small business start up information and loan information assistance Administered by SUNY and funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration and New York State, the SBDC combines the resources of the University, the private sector, and the government to benefit Long Island businesses. Talented, certified SBDC business advisers are ready to counsel and train you to make your business succeed. The one-on-one business advising service is free as well as most small business workshops . The SBDC at Farmingdale has a growing list of success stories and an excellent reputation for offering high quality services.
